GUN SHY
High above
On the branch of a tree
Redbreast nuthatches
Ignorant of me preening themselves
Without a glance
I knew it was time to take a
Chance raising my
Rifle slowly I shot missed
By a mile believe it or not
Again and again with the same result
Birds flew away a downright insult
Knowing my rifle set off no
Alarm the way I aimed could
Do them no harm
