Maggie SmithThe Well Speaks of its Own PoisonPoet Maggie Smith has found great success with her evocative, honest work - her poetry collection, The Well Speaks of Its Own Poison, won the 2012 Dorset Prize. She is also the author of three prize-winning chapbooks: DisasterologyThe List of Dangers, and Nesting Dolls.
A 2011 recipient of a Creative Writing Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, Maggie has also received four Individual Excellence Awards from the Ohio Arts Council, among other prestigious arts awards. She holds a BA from Ohio Wesleyan University and an MFA from The Ohio State University. Maggie lives with her husband and two children in Bexley, where she works as a freelance writer and editor.


MENU: Grilled Portabella Mushroom, Herbed Goat Cheese, and Blood Orange Balsamic Glaze on Deli Roll; Ranch Pasta Salad with Garden Vegetables; Espresso Frosted Brownie

The picnic will run as follows:
5:30 p.m. - Our Young Docents (pre-teen/teen tour guides) offer guided tours of Thurber House.
5:30 - 6:50 p.m. - You may pick up your pre-ordered boxed dinner at any point within this time frame.
7:00 p.m. - The program begins. Thurber House remains open after the reading for touring, book buying, and signing.

Please bring your own lawn chairs or blankets. You are also welcome to bring alcoholic beverages. Boxed dinners must be ordered by 4 p.m. on Monday, July 13.

Parking is metered on Jefferson Avenue, but is free in the lots behind Thurber House and on the corner of Jefferson and Long. 
In case of rain, join us at the Columbus Museum of Art, 480 E. Broad St.

midohiofoodbank-logoThurber House will once again be collecting canned and boxed goods at each picnic to support the Mid-Ohio Food Bank. Please consider bringing any canned and boxed goods you can spare when you attend any of our picnics this summer.
