THE PSA READINGS AT MCNALLY JACKSON:
Olena Kalytiak Davis & Morgan Parker

Olena Kalytiak Davis is the author of four poetry collections, most recently, The Poem She Didn't Write And Other Poems(2014), which was a 2014 Lannan Literary Selection. Her first book, And Her Soul Out Of Nothing, won the Brittingham Prize. Her second book, shattered sonnets love cards and other off and back handed importunities (2003), was recently republished by Copper Canyon Press (2014).
Morgan Parker is the author of Other People's Comfort Keeps Me Up At Night (Switchback Books 2015), selected by Eileen Myles for the 2013 Gatewood Prize, and There Are More Beautiful Things Than Beyoncé (Coconut Books 2016). Her poetry and essays have been featured in numerous publications as well as anthologized in Why I Am Not a Painter (Argos Books) and The BreakBeat Poets: New American Poetry in the Age of Hip-Hop(forthcoming, Haymarket Books). A Cave Canem fellow and poetry editor for Coconut Magazine, she also contributes writing to Weird Sister and co-curates the Poets With Attitude (PWA) reading series with Tommy Pico. She lives in Brooklyn and atwww.morgan-parker.com.

POETRY IN MOTION: THE POET IS IN
11am-6pm

In celebration of National Poetry Month, the PSA presents Poetry in Motion: The Poet Is In in partnership with the MTA Arts & Design. The program was inspired by New York State Poet Laureate Marie Howe, Arts & Design's de facto Poet in Residence, who is dedicated to bringing poetry to everyone in the metropolitan area.

Free and open to the public, the celebration takes place in the new Fulton Street Station from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., featuring 
The Poet is Inan array of award-winning poets, including NY State Poet Laureate Marie Howe, Pulitzer Prize-winner Sharon Olds, and Bob Holman, founder of the Bowery Poetry Café, will sit in a booth (inspired by Lucy's booth from the Peanuts comic strip) and write poems for those who request one;
and
Music Under New York: A variety of musicians from the MUSIC program will perform throughout the day to accompany the poetry feature

LOS ANGELES RIVER POETRY READING
with Luis Rodriquez, Eloise Klein Healy, William Archila, and Lewis MacAdams

In addition to a reading by renowned Los Angeles poets, the event features a variety of activities for adults and children (ages 6 and up) including a walking tour of the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve led by Lewis MacAdams, poet and Co-founder/President of Friends of the Los Angeles River (FoLAR), and urban ecologist/educator/designer Kat Superfisky; art, poetry writing activities, and refreshments for children (ages 6 and up), sponsored by Red Hen Press; and a pop-up picnic: Bring your own picnic basket and enjoy a lovely luncheon in the idyllic setting of the Sepulveda Basin Park.

The LA River Poetry Reading has been made possible by Play the LA River (PLAR), and through the support of Red Hen Press and The Poetry Society of America.

All events begin at The Amphitheatre located within the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve.

The event is free and open to the public.

Dorothea Lasky is the author of four books of poetry, most recently ROME (W.W. Norton/Liveright, 2014), as well asThunderbird, Black Life, AWE, all out from Wave Books. She is the co-editor of Open the Door: How to Excite Young People About Poetry (McSweeney's, 2013) and several chapbooks, including Poetry is Not a Project (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2010). Currently, she is an Assistant Professor of Poetry at Columbia University's School of the Arts and lives in New York City.
